来源：天然品存在于茉莉油中。
制法：二氢茉莉酮酸甲酯的和成线路很多。
（1）以2-戊基-2-环戊烯-1-酮为原料，在催化剂的作用下，与丙二酸二乙酯缩合，然后在160～180℃下水解，脱羧，酯化而得。
（2）以2-戊基-2-环戊烯-1-酮为原料，与氰氨基甲酸甲酯反应，氧化、酯化而得。
（3）以间苯二酚为原料，催化加氢，生成环己二酮，与溴戊烷反应，生成2-戊基-1，3-环己二酮，再与次氯酸钠反应，用碳酸钠中和，生成2-戊基-2-环戊烯酮，再仿（1）与丙二酸二甲酯缩合，水解、脱羧、酯化而得。
实例
2015年4月16日，二氢茉莉酮酸甲酯”最早应用于迪奥的经典男士香水“Eau Sauvage”中，在“CK One”和“Invictus”等品牌男士香水中也发现这种物质。
美国杜克大学医学中心研究发现，使用香水确实可以提振我们的情绪，性在想象性爱情节时闻到男士香水味，会比那些闻到中性气味的女性更容易性唤起。 [1]
